How to propose a merger

Proposing a merger can be done in three steps:

  1. Create a place for discussion. Go to the discussion page (also known as the talk page) of one of the articles and create a section to discuss the merger. If there's already a discussion on the talk page regarding the merger, you can omit this step. The section name can be anything, for example ==Proposed merger from Page1==.
  2. Put one of the merger tags at the top of the articles you wish to be merged. The templates {{merge}}, {{Merge from}} and {{Merge to}} are the most common ones. Remember to make sure that the Discuss link in each tag points to the section you've created in step 1 – this is to prevent having two separate discussions on different talk pages.
  3. If the proposed merge is controversial or potentially difficult to carry out, follow the directions under #Requests for assistance and feedback to add it to the list.

Automatically generated log

For each month, a list of up to 200 requests is generated by a bot. When the merge templates have been removed from the articles in question, they will be taken off the list.

Requests for assistance and feedback

In general, this section should be used to solicit outside feedback regarding mergers that are either tricky or of a controversial nature. Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved. After articles are merged (or a consensus that the articles should not be merged is reached), please remove them from the list below.

Current requests

Please list new requests at the bottom of this section. Sign each listing or comment by typing: ~~~~

  • Note:No discussion hasn't been yet initiated. I've placed a note on both discussion pages. However, I can hardly see that this is about fork content.Alexikoua (talk) 21:59, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Note:I think we should merge them, because Devol is the same place with Devoll (ancient Deabolis, Zvezda, Selasphorus)Stupidus Maximus (talk) 17:17, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Merge Advanced maternal ageinto Maternal age effect Both articles discuss the influence of a woman’s age on the risk of conferring a genetic defect to her offspring. The existing article for “Maternal Age Effect†is very limited. However I suggest that the title of the surviving article should be “Maternal Age Effect†for consistency’s sake to mirror “Paternal Age Effect†as there is no article titled “Advanced Paternal Age.†Proposed February 2010, no discussion or objection. Typing Monkey - (type to me) 03:29, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
Unless I am missing something, the second article should not be merged because it is not a wikipedia article at all -- it is a draft in a user subpage. Ciricula (talk) 03:00, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Merge Reddiar, into Reddy since Reddiar and Reddy are the same social group.Reddiars are Reddys who have been domiciled for many years in Tamil Nadu and adopted Tamil Customs in addition to the traditions followed by them in Andhra Pradesh.Discussion is at Talk:Reddy-Raghavan(Talk) 15:45, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Merge Framework, a page which relatively recently evolved into a disambiguation page, into Framework (disambiguation) which has been around as a disambiguation page for a while and already has almost all of the content from the former. DennisIsMe (talk) 23:12, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Merge Fleet card with (into) Fuel card. Both describe cards used by (primarily) trucking companies. Fleet card is decidedly UK-centric while Fuel card has an American perspective. Both articles are in need of serious work and I plan on doing major cleanup once merge is completed. VictorianMutant (talk) 23:25, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
No one has joined the discussion(on either page). I'll wait a few more days for objection or comment and then make the move. VictorianMutant (talk) 20:42, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
